Cricketonomics

India has been kicked out of the world cup, Dravid has said India doesn’t deserve to progress to the next stage. Everyone is discussing how to improve Indian cricket. They suggest changes to make the team better. They are wasting their time. I will stick my neck out and say that India will never produce a good team. Its too much effort.

So now I have an alternative to this. India contributes to roughly 75% of ICC’s revenues. Without India there is no cricket. So I suggest the BCCI makes a deal with ICC. The deal should stipulate that India will progress till the semis of every major ICC event, and win every alternative ICC event. The ICC is responsible for making the other teams comply and lose. During the events India wins, the BCCI can always play the players of other teams playing to help India win, and for their teams to lose. An alternative can be to pay off the other boards to let India win. BCCI can always recover this through additional revenue generated if India wins. Every man has a price, all BCCI has to do is find the price.

In all likelihood, the ICC wont agree to these terms. So the BCCI can always organise another body like the ICC, controlled by the BCCI, and which will let India win tournaments. All major tournaments will be rigged, while the small ones, 2/3 nations can be competitive. The issue of players does exist, the BCCI with its clout can always buy out players and have them playing under their own nationalities. For instance BCCI can buy out the entire West Indian team, and ask them to play under the West Indies banner. In the major tournaments, they will dance according to BCCI’s wishes and let India win, but in small tournaments they can play properly.
The BCCI benefits in the second format because they get to keep the entire revenue generated from international cricket, and doesn’t have to give the ICC a share.

I suspect just the threat of BCCI pulling out of the ICC and ICC controlled cricket will force the ICC to agree to BCCI's terms. BCCI just needs to exercise some of its muscle.

BCCI should stop wasting its time trying to produce good cricketers, and look at using its money power to make all other nations dance to its wishers, BCCI is international cricket, and ICC should be made to serve BCCIs needs.

nice idea vatsan ... but even if u fix up with the opposition, India will still loose nah :D

indian team le ellarum unne maadhiri budhisaaleya irundha prechanaye illai ... enna panne

I have a simpler suggestion. Everybody watch football. 90 minutes. Much better game. Less time waste. Lower heartburn. Anyway, India is not good at it.

what Vijay Krishan said was very apt.the more the attention is diverted towards other sports the better. that way the indian team will play under less pressure and start winning consistently.

Dear Vatsan, this is the system already in place (just not guarantee of winning, just reaching semifinals). What went wrong in this WC is that Bob Woolmer got murdered and all the "fixers" of matches had to stop for the moment. Adanaala thaan last two world cups la namba atleast semi final ku ponom.

Vanakkam Mr. Vatsan!

Was very happy to see your comment on my blog:) I am a tamilian too, but born and brought up in Bangalore.

I have visited my grandmother's village in Salem, where I've seen statues of Gods with mustaches. I was more interested in finding out why the more popular, or should I say, North Indian deities, aren't depicted that way.

We stayed in Nungambakkam for the first three years after my birth and during that time appa used to take us to the Meesai Perumal kovil once in a way.

Thank you once more for your comments. Do visit my blog again when you find the time. I've taken a look around here and liked what I saw... hence you've been blogrolled on http://greatunknown.wordpress.com/
